HY'DRAGOGUE, noun hy'dragog. [Gr. water, and a leading or drawing; to lead or drive.] A medicine that occasions a discharge of watery humors; a name that implies a supposition that every purgative has the quality of evacuating a particular humor. But in general, the stronger cathartics are hydragogues.
