SUGGES'TION, noun A hint; a first intimation, proposal or mention. The measure was adopted at the suggestion of an eminent philosopher.
1. Presentation of an idea to the mind; as the suggestions of fancy or imagination; the suggestions of conscience.
2. Insinuation; secret notification or incitement.
3. In law, information without oath.
